At Hoek Modular Homes, we take immense pride in our ability to craft bespoke modular accommodations that blend luxury, sustainability, and a connection to nature. It is with great excitement that we unveil our role in the creation of Australia Zoo’s latest addition to The Crocodile Hunter Lodge: the stunning Crocodile Cabins, an eco-retreat experience like no other.
Nestled within the serene natural landscape of Queensland, these double-storey cabins embody the legacy of Steve Irwin’s love for wildlife and wild places. With several cabins already completed and more on the horizon, we are thrilled to have contributed to this extraordinary project, creating spaces where guests can immerse themselves in the beauty of the natural world while enjoying unparalleled comfort.
The Crocodile Cabins offer guests the opportunity to stay right on the edge of a state-of-the-art freshwater habitat, home to rescued freshwater crocodiles and endangered Mary River turtles. The expansive windows of these two-storey cabins provide breathtaking views of the pristine bushland, a cascading 16-foot waterfall, and the tranquil animal billabong below.
But it’s not just about the views. These cabins are designed for luxury and relaxation, with:
Every detail was meticulously planned, ensuring a seamless blend of luxury and sustainability.
From the start, this project resonated deeply with our team at Hoek Modular Homes. The Crocodile Hunter Lodge isn’t just about luxury accommodations—it’s about showcasing the harmony between human innovation and environmental conservation.
The lodges sit among a thriving sanctuary for native wildlife and critically endangered plant species, a testament to Australia Zoo’s commitment to preserving natural habitats. During construction, we witnessed a mob of eastern grey kangaroos adopt the lodge as their home—a beautiful reminder of the positive environmental impact this project continues to foster.
Our work on the Crocodile Cabins allowed us to help honor the incredible legacy of Steve Irwin. Through thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship, we’ve helped create spaces where guests can reflect on their connection to nature, wildlife, and conservation.
Terri Irwin’s words encapsulate the spirit of these new accommodations:
“At the heart of The Crocodile Hunter Lodge is not only extraordinary accommodation surrounded by the natural world, but also our commitment to providing a safe haven for wildlife and wild places.”
We couldn’t agree more, and it has been an honour to be part of bringing this vision to life.
For those planning a visit, every stay at the lodge includes exclusive perks like unlimited entry to Australia Zoo, access to The Billabong infinity pool, and a complimentary breakfast at the award-winning Warrior Restaurant & Bar.
