At Hoek Modular Homes, we believe that the strongest foundations aren’t just in the homes we build, they’re in the people who build them.
Last week on R U OK? Day, our team took a moment to pause, share some cupcakes, and most importantly, check in with each other. It was a simple reminder of how powerful four little words can be: “Are you OK?”

It’s not always easy to reach out when life gets tough. That’s why R U OK? Day is such an important reminder to check in. Not just with friends and family but also with the people we spend so much of our day with: our workmates.
At Hoek, we heard those words echo around the office, the workshop, and the yard. While there were plenty of smiles and laughter (and yes, the cupcakes were delicious), the real message was about being there for one another. Our supervisors made it clear too that their doors are always open for a chat, and that no one has to go through hard times alone.

Days like this make us reflect on just how important our team is. Every single person at Hoek, from the crew on-site to the staff in the office, plays a role in bringing families together through our granny flats and modular homes.
As General Manager Shane Windsor put it:
“Hoek has always been about family, not just the families we build for, but the family we’ve built within our team. Looking after each other means we can give our very best to the people who trust us with their homes.”
Our customers trust us to build spaces where memories are made, where grandparents live closer to their families, and where connections grow stronger. That only happens because of the people behind the scenes who care deeply about what they do and about each other.

R U OK? Day is just one day on the calendar but its message is one we want to carry with us every day. A quick chat, a coffee break, or even a smile can make more of a difference than we might realise.
At Hoek Modular Homes, looking after our team means we can give our best to the families we build for. And just like strong homes, strong communities are built on care, connection, and looking out for each other.
So, while we’ll always remember the cupcakes and laughs, we’ll also remember the real takeaway: asking the question, listening, and being there… because that might be exactly what someone needs.
